A one-year course-based Master’s program that applies biomedical science and fundamental business knowledge to a consulting team project, entrepreneurship course, MBA elective course, and an internship placement within the health sciences/pharmaceutical/biotechnology sectors. It is offered by the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences with key contributions from the DeGroote School of Business.

Degrees offered: Master of Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization (MBDC)

Format: Full-Time

Applicants: Master’s-level admission will be almost exclusively to students who have completed the undergraduate BDC program. External candidates must have the equivalent science and business background.

A one-year, project-based master’s program requiring three terms to complete. The curriculum across the year is divided into three phases and will guide students through the biomedical innovation and entrepreneurship process. Students will simultaneously acquire and apply the theories and skillsets presented across the three phases to a year-long, venture-oriented project. The program is full-time and provides in-person clinical immersive experiences anchored by a series of bootcamps and hybrid courses.

Degrees Offered: Master of Biomedical Innovation (MBI)

Format: Full-Time

Applicants: Applications for the MBI program will be considered by invitation only. All interested applicants are requested to provide a letter of intent, outlining their health innovation and entrepreneurship goals as well as an up-to-date CV/Resume. Completion of an undergraduate degree and minimum B+ average (75-79%) is required. While some introductory innovation and entrepreneurship education, or demonstration of involvement in innovation and entrepreneurship projects are an asset, they are not required for admission.

Child Life specialists are members of pediatric interdisciplinary health care teams whose primary focus is on the developmental and emotional needs of children and their families. The program is designed to meet the learning needs of Canadian and international students as well as the health care system’s need for certified child life specialists with Master’s level training. The program includes a stream for Child Life specialists already in the field that wish to upgrade their qualifications to a Master’s degree.

Degrees offered: Master of Child Life and Pediatric Psychosocial Care

Format: Full-Time and Part-Time

Applicants: Graduates with a four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology, Life Sciences, Bachelor of Health Sciences, or Child and Youth Studies, as well as Child Life specialists or relevant health care professionals (e.g. pediatric clinical psychologists).

The program is the result of the partnership between the DeGroote School of Business and Faculty of Health Sciences. It provides regulated health professionals with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to excel as a middle or senior manager within both the public and private spheres of Canada’s health care sector.

Degrees offered: Master of Health Management

Format: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Online

Applicants: Health professionals who are currently employed in a clinical and/or management capacity in any health care sector in Canada or internationally.

A professional course-based program leading to the Master’s degree, which equips graduates with requisite knowledge, skills, and professional behaviours to practice as entry-level occupational therapists in a range of institutional and community settings throughout Canada and the international community. It prepares students in their eligibility to be registered practicing occupational therapists and meets professional accreditation and practice standards.

A professional Master’s program comprised of academic and clinical education, which prepares students in their eligibility to be registered practicing physiotherapists in Canada. This program meets Canadian professional accreditation and practice standards.

Applicants: Individuals with an undergraduate degree from a range of different programs with the following pre-requisites: a human anatomy course, a human physiology course, a humanities course and a statistics course.

A professional course-based degree program that offers students didactic and applied training to gain theoretical knowledge and competency in the delivery of psychotherapy. The aim of the program is to prepare students for a career as an independent psychotherapy practitioner.

Applicants: Individuals with a four-year undergraduate degree in Psychology, Social Sciences or Health Sciences and who have relevant work, volunteer, and/or research experience.

A professional Master’s program training rehabilitation health professionals with specialized knowledge, skills, and clinical training in the prevention, screening, identification, assessment, and management of congenital and acquired communication and swallowing disorders.

Degrees offered: MSc (SLP)

Format: Full-Time

Applicants: Individuals with an undergraduate degree from a range of academic disciplines will be appropriate for this program. Course experience in linguistics, psychology, science and statistics is recommended.
